Wonderful and hard-hitting mafia film. Stripped of any romance. Everyone betrays everyone and everyone kicks the bucket on Silva (wonderfully rotten head). I have really become a fan of di Leo. Stylish films with a murderous pace. Those Italian genre films are a wonderful alternative to slick Hollywood productions. Wonderfully uncompromising and raw film 4 stars.

The theatrical Italians. I normally don't like them, but in Di Leo's mafia environment it provides a broad laugh. Just like a grenade launcher when the gentlemen want to relax for a moment. Too bad the puppets stand out a bit too much, but oh well. The third is a bit less than the previous part in the trilogy. Adorf is irreplaceable and the film has to switch a bit too often to the story that is full of betrayal, corruption and even has a political tinge. There is quite a lot going on around the bosses and Lanzetta.

And if they talk a little too much, such a film can end up in the danger zone. Silva, on the other hand, is fantastic as the stoic hitman who clears everything out of the way in a world where no one is safe. The posters above his bed are good for yet another grin and every time the guns are used, there is a soundtrack that gives it a powerful lurch. The icing on the cake, there is something about a stiletto that stands out and the kidnapped girl is the ultimate wrestling pussy who is not averse to, well, anything. Nice film, nice films.

Watched this last night.

Silva is one of those actors who have always intrigued me.

Usually cast as a villain in Hollywood productions, but in the 1970s in Southern Europe he got a whole new career as a lead in a number of violent Italian crime productions, where any subtlety seems to be completely lacking.

This film is a good example of that, it starts off nicely with a scene in a cinema, which immediately makes you want more, unfortunately I thought that was the best part of the whole film.

There were quite a few long conversations in the film, which rather slowed it down, and the action was sparse, but it was quite crude and violent.

Conte as a mafia boss repeats the role he played in many films from that time, Garko is a somewhat vague cop, whose role could have been developed a bit better, but it is of course Silva who steals the show as a killer who has been taken up in a mafia family, who first eliminates rival families, but is then betrayed and decides to kill everyone who gets in his way.

Not the best movie I've ever seen, but good enough to go and see some more of this particular genre. On to: "The Cry of a Prostitute".

A solid six, or three stars.
