Childhood nostalgia that I enjoyed as a teenager. I wasn't familiar with the series, so to me it was just a family-friendly horror movie. Even now, the film has its charm and is a joy to watch. With the memorable duo of Anjelica Huston and Raul Julia who seem to have been born for the roles. But the other characters are also strongly cast. The then 11-year-old Christina Ricci immediately plays a classic film role that she will only be able to match much later. Everyone will remember her as Wednesday Addams. I hope the young generation will discover her too.

The Addams Family is a family-friendly film based on a TV series, meaning the film has multiple jokes to extend the accessible story into a full-length feature. By the way, you would expect that such a film would be made by Tim Burton, but it is Barry Sonnenfeld who makes his debut film with this. Owen Roizman for cinematography is a good choice. He had previously made The Exorcist and The French Connection.

This may require a reboot. It can suddenly make up for the 1998 low-budget Addams Family Reunion. The concept of The Addams Family needs to be reinstated!

'Leather straps...redhot pokers...'

' - Later my dearest!'

What a wonderfully entertaining movie that I hadn't seen in a long time. For a moment I was afraid to start with this because of the low average grade, but what a wonderful piece of entertainment from the 90s and above all humor that I like.

From the start it is already a feast with this extraordinary family and house where the fence lives and bites you, the bearskin on the floor is also of the bite-like kind, books have a lot more content than they appear and the weird hobbies and preferences of the whole family for that matter. It's the little details where just nothing, no matter how small, is normal and is very humorous in my eyes. The story about the so-called return of Fester is nice, but not very special. The furnishing continues, and the development around the capital and all candidates as well.

The Addams Family shines in the midst of a good cast with especially the excellent Lloyd and Julia, a lot of fun and seems to be made with great care. Well-known appearances like Cousin It and Thing finish it all off very well with the only really bad note being the somewhat bland event on the slide to get to the basement in combination with a very busy and weird song. Apart from that, The Addams Family never gets bored, there is enough to laugh about as far as I'm concerned and this is a very entertaining film and a piece of childhood sentiment will play a part here. Just fun!

Sonnenfield.

A name that has clearly focused more on enjoyable viewing experiences than serious films. With a hefty budget and a big punch of source material, he often continues to make his films with the same style. And that's a bit strange, odd, but above all, entertaining. This movie is no different in that regard.

As a kid I loved seeing scary decorations and so on, but these kinds of movies have passed me by. Often, when I watch it again today, I relive part of my childhood. That also applied with this film, although I found it all a bit more irritating and eccentric here, which moreover only flattens the atmosphere.

For me, the main problem is that you have a whole dose of interesting figures, but then none of them really shine. Of course they all have their own gifts, but they are rarely used really nicely. It's the story itself, which is a lot thinner (but very fun), that outlines the event a bit.

This includes many funny effects, very nice make-up and, above all, beautiful decoration. They do their best to make it a real world of their own and they go a long way in that. The healthy dose of clumsy and childish humor also contributes to this. At least I wasn't bored for a second for the entire playing time. Just would have liked to see more space for the creepy atmosphere itself.
