Very nice horror animation film by Burton. One as he only seems to be able to create with an utterly sinister atmosphere sprinkled with a layer of humour. There is rarely a lack of creativity at Burton and it shows here.

A nice plot and above all suitable for both young and old. It will never be creepy, but the atmosphere should be there so that everyone gets their money's worth. Beautifully drawn and also with a lot of eye for details and hidden information. There is always something happening or there is always something nice to see in the background. In short, a very nice dark fairytale!

Short but sweet?

Nice quote, but this movie is not. Corpse Bride has been on the radar for quite some time, but really only for the director who directed it. Tim Burton has been known among film buffs as a creative director for quite some time, unfortunately this film is not his best example.

To start on a positive note, the animation is of a high level and I think every user can agree on that. The images fly by beautifully and the film is full of luminous atmosphere that manages to brighten it up as a whole. The characters are well designed and the use of color is just right. It is therefore best to call it creative on a visual level.

However, the story itself is not. The visual splendor in which the story is packed makes you want more, but the film does not deliver that. We get to endure a very short romance story that just manages to captivate. As a viewer you quickly realize that the story will not offer anything that is only slightly innovative and to make matters worse, it is all crammed into a running time of only 76 minutes.

The film has a peculiar course and is arranged in such a way that it resembles an old film with more color. Many images are intentionally animated in black and white, which gives the film an old feel, which is quite beneficial. The film then contradicts it with rather childish humor that sometimes wants to kill the subtle atmosphere.

All in all, Corpse Bride is not a bad film, but due to a lack of creativity and clashing tones, the result is quite messy. The heart is nevertheless in the right place, and later Burton proved himself a king with animation, Corpse Bride is not quite perfect yet. But the film is overflowing with potential and director Burton may well leave his mark in terms of visual images.

It's been a while since I've seen this one, so time to do it again. Still a very nice animated film with an original story. The voices were also well chosen and the atmosphere and songs were also great. Not such a long film, but everything was nicely rounded off.

Not a Disney animated film this time, but still very well done. Recommended.
