Writer Bob Weston (Curtis) seeks therapy with controversial doctor Helen Gurley Brown (Wood). In this way he finally wants to write an exclusive piece for his magazine. Meanwhile, his best friend Frank Broderick (Fonda) aspires to a career in women's underwear and his wife Sylvia (Lauren Bacall) becomes very jealous. She is convinced that her husband has a thing for all those underwear models. When she meets Bob, she tries to get him to write a piece about her husband and his best friend Frank.
