"Love is an acquired taste."

Leo and Nikki, a trainee chef and aspiring restaurateur, fall in love with each other. This also affects the mothers who are best friends and therefore feel compelled to see each other in secret moments. The grandparents of the couple in love also have something to hide and have to meet in the greatest secrecy to give their love affair a chance. When Leo and Nikki's fathers find out about their affair, they organize a pizza contest. The loser will have to move to another city.

Old-fashioned comedy like the ones that were made in abundance during the heyday of the Hollywood studios. The humor seems a bit forced here and there, but it is still quite an enjoyable film. Moreover, it is always nice to see Danny Aiello at work. Somewhat nostalgic entertainment.

Little Italy has the best intentions and fortunately the film is also very light-hearted. The film has little harm in mind and is purely intended to make people smile and make people happy. Fortunately, Little Italy can also rely on the always charming Emma Roberts, because the rest of the film is actually characterized by too much silliness, incredibly bland characters and the whole family feud does not feel of high quality.

Nice for once, but also forgotten.

2.5*

Due to the large amount of adult themes, it is a mystery to me why director Donald Petrie still presents such a childish whole. Partly for this reason, the ultimate target group of Little Italy is a complete mystery to me, but that does not alter the fact that the content is quite fresh. The use of bright colors and sunny atmospheres jumps off the screen and Petrie also ensures a pleasant pace. The acting of the members in Little Italy is enthusiastic and charming, but the three screenwriters who worked on this film portray them all in such a childish and bloated way that any surprise is immediately taken away from the viewer. The extremely clichéd progression and lack of really engaging scenes on an emotional level make the film not the most original, but ultimately it feels well-intentioned enough for a decent evening of entertainment. The somewhat run-down and, above all, too easy finale prevents me from giving the film a passing grade.
