La Banda Picasso plot
"Who has stolen the Gioconda?"
"Picasso's gang" is the name of the group of artists that formed around 1910 in Paris around the young Spanish painter. Their goal is to take the artistic old guard off their pedestal. In addition to Picasso, the group included writer Guillaume Apollinaire, Max Jacob, Manolo Hugue, Fernande (Picasso's partner and muse) and Gery Pieret, also known as the Baron, a riotous gentleman. They are mainly concerned with rustling advances from their patron Leo Stein for unrecognized masterpieces by Picasso. During a visit to the Louvre, where they spend a lot of time discussing art, the Baron shows how easy it is to steal some Iberian busts. After a few weeks, the world is shocked by the news that the Mona Lisa has been stolen from the Louvre, the Baron and the group are accused of this theft and Picasso is called as a witness.
