Looking for the masterful Belgian film of the same name, I kept coming across this one on web shops. Now that I've seen him, I no longer go looking for the Belgian Just friends, because the risk of being confronted with the blown up fake Reynolds head again is too great for me. I started this with quite high expectations, because I think Reynolds is a nice actor and Amy Smart is not wrong, but the film just didn't want to be fun, and that Chris Klein's supporting role was actually the most interesting plot element says enough. And boy, was that Anna Faris character annoying, and not as intended but just plain boring to watch. I caught myself smiling exactly two: one when Reynolds contemplates the pastel "soft" clothes he wants to appear sensitive at Smart and mutters, "Jesus – looks like the Michael Bolton Starter Kit !", and the second when the movie was over. Fortunately, Reynolds has already played some acceptable roles (Adventureland, Buried, Safe house), so I won't continue to blame him for this kind of misfire.

Pure sentiment. Others watch Home Alone or Love Actually during Christmas, but with us this film always comes out during Christmas. Sentimental, sweet, romantic, funny and lots of snow, ideal ingredients for a Christmas movie. Reynolds can play these kinds of roles in his sleep and I have a soft spot for Amy Smart. Kind of youth crush…
Anna Faris plays a completely crazy character and that's how I prefer to see her. The scenes with that little brother are comedy gold. Everything goes exactly according to the romcom rules, but the film has a certain charm about it, so predictability does not matter. This is probably due to the atmosphere, the humor and the chemistry between the actors. Set up again next December...

This was on TV and watched it once and thought it was a nice movie. I had to laugh a few times and the cast did a great job. The story was not boring.
