Hollywood Canteen plot
"All of Hollywood's Heart is in it! Most of Hollywood's Stars are in it!"
During World War II, two servicemen, Captain Ed "Slim" Green and Sergeant Nowland, who are on sick leave before returning to active duty, spend three nights at the "Hollywood Canteen." The 'Hollywood Canteen' is led by Bette Davis. With a little help from the friendly John Garfield, Slim kisses Joan Leslie, whom he dreamed about when he was encamped in the Pacific. He then meets her at the Farmer's Market. On the third night, Slim is the millionth man to visit the 'Hollywood Canteen' and earns a date with Joan Crawford. Slim thinks he's been cheated when Joan doesn't show up when he has to leave by train. That may well be true: Slim's comrade Nowland, meanwhile, is dancing with Joan.
