When Dick Harper is promoted to head of communications at the Globodyne company, he and his wife Jane are over the moon. Finally they don't have to worry about money anymore and Jane can stop working to be a mother at home for little boy Billy. Unfortunately, this vision of the future soon turns out to be an illusion, because the next day Globodyne goes bankrupt in a suspicious way. Since Jane has already quit her job, the Harpers are in dire straits. In the first months they can reasonably provide for their needs, but when the water is really up to their lips, the criminal path seems inevitable.

As a satire on a number of financial scandals at American companies, the film is somewhat successful with some striking but cliché jokes. Jim Carrey and Téa Leoni act well and have a strong chemistry together. The self-fulfilling Robin Hood part is pretty over the top, but hey, it shouldn't spoil the fun.

Average comedy.
Parisot hopes a little too hard that Carrey will solve it here, but he is in a fairly tight straitjacket and can barely do his thing. Here and there there is a scene that stands out (the voice changers indeed), but these are rather rare.
The rest is a fairly bland comedy that has a hard time getting funny. The somewhat socially critical story does not really fit and is also far from sharp enough, the robberies are a bit on the bland side and the finale is also meager.
It is that the film remains light for the entire running time and that fortunately it does not last too long. That's why it's still a decent snack, but still one of Carrey's lesser films. The rest of the cast is unfortunately only a little bit involved, and if the main man can't quite do his thing then you get a movie like this.
