The Wild plot
"Start spreading the newspaper."
The noisy lion Samson is the hero of the New York zoo. When his son, Ryan the lion cub, is accidentally shipped into the wilderness, he must spring into action, aided by a strange company of animals. Along with the graceful giraffe Bridget, the sluggish snake Larry, the comical koala Nigel and the cocky squirrel Benny, Samson embarks on a dangerous mission across the jungles of New York City to rescue Ryan.

Disney Classic #50 The Wild
Although independent Canadian-made, The Wild proudly carries the Disney Classic label. You would expect the necessary fireworks from the 'magical' number fifty in the series: however, that is disappointing.
This film is not really bad either with some humorous moments and a pleasant pace. Unfortunately, the story is mainly a combination of Madagascar, Finding Nemo and The Lion King. With the main lines of Madagascar and the tone of my (youth) favorite from 1994.
In the beginning I often found the traveling companion downright annoying, but in the course of the film it becomes a fairly entertaining company. That may have to do with the voice acting, which was quite well put together. Still, overall it remains a very mediocre film that doesn't do much visually.

Disney Classic 50: this film disappointed us. The whole Disney atmosphere that makes most films so powerful seems far away in this film. Most jokes are downright lame or produce a faint smile on your face. No, I wouldn't watch this movie again anytime soon, too bad!
