Surprising.

Never been a Pooh fan, so I didn't expect anything from this. All the more fun that you see that some "other" talent from Disney finds its way to the surface. No narrative movie with exciting adventures, no lame gags, annoying sidekicks and the same boring overconsistent drawing style... this movie seems much more alive.

The honey number, the chalk scene, the scenes in the book itself ... all things that keep this film interesting. I also loved the voice acting. Pooh sounds very dry, Eeyore is much too depressed for a "typical" Western children's film and Piglet is also very nice. In addition, most characters are also nice and stupid and rude in a nice goofy way, so that the humor still works.

I originally planned to give 3*, but the love with which the end credits were made yields an extra half. It's wonderful how they recreated some scenes from the film with puppets, such things really show the love that has been put into a film like this. The rest of the credits are nice too.

Simply one of the best I know from Disney. Enough creativity, nice humour, a short running time and a lack of drama ensure a nice feel-good film.

3.5*

This is an animation made with love, for the story and the book. Short enough and with a nice simple story as befits Winnie The Pooh. Playing with the letters and occasionally breaking the 4th wall. But also the wonderful quotes. The scene in the pit is beautiful to watch. One of Disney's better animated films where the makers knew what they were doing. Unfortunately, that rarely happens.

With a running time of 53 minutes (+ 10 minutes of credits), the story is a bit on the thin side, but how happy I would be if every animated film had 53 minutes that are just as fun. The residents of The 7 Acre Woods band together when Eeyore [Bud Luckey] has lost his state. Everyone tries (unsuccessfully) to find a suitable new tail and win the corresponding prize (a jar of honey, what else?), until Owl [Craig Ferguson] finds a letter that reveals that Christopher Robinson [Jack Boulter] has been kidnapped by 'The Backson'. Time for a rescue! A treat for young and old full of hilarious moments and wonderful songs and the pleasant narration voice of John Cleese. Highlights: The beautifully crafted “The Backson Song”, Tigga's “It's Gonna Be Great” and Piglet's attempts to save his friends from a trap.
