To my surprise, I thought this Star Wars animated film was quite enjoyable. Just a bit of a shame that the characters aren't very nicely made. The mouth movements in particular looked bad. But the action scenes looked good. Overall, I liked the voice acting. I remember when it was quite special that Samuel L. Jackson would lend his voice to Mace Windu again. Although that didn't take much, because the character has very little screen time. It is mainly about the new padawan Ahsoka. A nice character, but nothing special. And that principle actually applies to the entire film. I think it turned out to be an entertaining movie. I'm not going to compare it to the original saga, because then I'd be done soon. But I don't think that's the point in this case either.

3*

Well, the film looks like a cheap TV series, but once you can handle that, this is quite a watchable snack. It's nice that the characters have been made a bit more caricatured, especially because you never get real people. Voice work is also fine. The story itself is really small and the whole film is full of action scenes but you are never beaten down, for that it is all well dosed and the entire film only lasts 90 minutes. There is also some good camera work at times. The new padawan is annoying and nowhere credible, the way she behaves. But I especially like to see an expansion in the Galaxy with some new locations and planets. Moreover, this film shows what the Clone Wars once were. 3.0*.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

The Jedi set out to rescue Jabba the Hutt's kidnapped baby... This Star Wars animated film isn't about the story. The dialogues also feel unnatural and for a film from 2008 the graphics look mediocre (with the exception of some cool action scenes and of course the sunrise on Tatooine).

But the adventure Anakin and Ahsoka Kano embark on is entertaining, and Obi-Wan and Queen Amidala also have their moments. Ahsoka Kano is an interesting new character and I would like to come back in the real movies. Fortunately, the film also has some humor (although at times very childish) and the voices of the actors are well chosen. Given the lousy story, The Clone Wars got the most out of it.
