Went to the movies today with my 4.5 year old son who absolutely loves My Little Pony.

Sound was turned down and lights weren't turned off completely.

Whether it was the big picture, or all the impressions, he found this movie much scarier than usual on TV. He shouted several times that he wanted to go home. Fortunately, the film was completely sat out on my lap. And he ended up liking it.

Still I don't understand the makers. There are many younger children who also like the ponies and yet there are quite a lot of scary things for those kids. I also understand that the viewing guide is for 6 years and older. I think (depending on how quickly your kids are scared) 4.5 or maybe 5 is really the lower limit you should look at here...

About the film: Beautifully made, nice cheerful colors, nice jokes, hyperactive ponies and some songs in between. And of course the important message that nothing beats friendship.

And well, as a parent you go there for your kids, so you watch a movie that you would like yourself.

It's fun enough for the kids.

Saw the original movie a while ago and now this new version. Quite a difference between the two movies.

No big expectations with this one, but luckily it turned out well. A nice story and he looked good too. It is visually very different from the original animations from the 80s.

There was also a lot of action in it and it is less viscous than expected.

The kids thought it was a very nice movie and it didn't get boring for us either.

Preparations for the Friendship Festival are cruelly interrupted by the arrival of Tempest Shadow [Emily Blunt], an embittered unicorn with a broken horn who claims the magic of all princesses on behalf of The Storm King [Liev Schreiber]. Only Princess Twilight Sparkle [Tara Strong] manages to escape and with the help of her dated sibling-based stereotypical friends, she sets out to find one 'Hippo' who could save them. Starts with a lame parody of 'We Got The Beat' by The Go-Go's that, together with the mediocre animation, makes it clear that the makers think they have to rely mainly on nostalgia for the 80s. It is seriously questionable whether the now 40-plus women of that time will sit for this and the same applies to the new generation of kids. The less critical kids may keep you sufficiently amused with this, but rather watch the sequel / reboot: My Little Pony: A New Generation.
