"Feudal Japan—a time of danger, intrigue and deception . . ."
In the village of Shemoto there is an epidemic that kills all the inhabitants. At the behest of clan leader Chamberlain, some members of the Koga Ninja Clan go to the village to investigate what's going on. Near the stricken village, the group is attacked in the forest and gruesomely slaughtered by a number of curious and extremely strong creatures. The only one who makes it out alive is the amazing female Ninja Kagero whose kisses are deadly. She is captured by Tessai, a demon who can turn his skin into granite.

Nice action and script, but the typical Japanese misogynistic character will eventually start to annoy me.
Ultimately, the story isn't very original, but both the dialogues and the events are quite interesting and the animation is very good. Nice gory action and smooth movements of the characters, I just take those typical anime clichés for granted (in the meantime everyone knows zooming in on trembling tearful eyes).
In the end, I am really annoyed by the nudity in some scenes. Nothing wrong with some eroticism in movies, but giving a character the ability to let people who rape his/her intimately with her die by a poison in her body, unfortunately provides opportunities here for senseless exploitation of female nudes, something that slowly starts to annoy me in these kind of movies.
All in all definitely worth it, although I would like to see a film where relationships and sexuality become less monotonous/female-unfriendly, then we would really have a hit.

Excellent! I really liked this adult anime. Not a minute bored. The story may not be strong and at times a bit silly, but the entertainment level is insanely high. Rich colours, realistic drawing style, bets on blood, sex and violence... Besides, I always really like this ninja world (bamboo, various weapons arsenal, old masters). The enemies were a big freak show, including a guy with beehive in his hump and a horny granite colossus...

Nice review.
Actually had a bit of a hard head in it, because it had been a very long time since I had seen this one and even then the general quality was a bit lower than the real anime classics. This was of a different caliber, and made with a significantly smaller budget.
But somehow I must have missed this. Movies that just like to be as brutal as possible. Cool monster designs, original kills, occasionally nice and bloody with some flat eroticism. It is not high-quality, but it is entertaining, especially when someone like Kawajiri gets to work with it.
His style is immediately recognizable, nice butch and quirky. Animation is rather limited, but like most animes there is clever use of editing and some effective to get extra dynamics in it. In the meantime Ninja Scroll has become a true anime classic, completely reviled in the past and one of the films that gave anime a bad name. How it can turn out
