Just like part 1, not good.

Remains a kind of children's LOTR, without the darker enemies and with animals instead. That makes it even less imaginative than LOTR already was… painful for a fantasy film. Especially if it then has to take another 150 minutes.

4 annoying kids return to Narnia. Once there, things are not going so well and they decide to save that fantasy world from all evil for a while. Some trips through forests and a few battles later and it's all back to normal. Some annoying secondary characters (the prince, the badger, the dwarf), an acute lack of magical moments and 150 minutes later it's finally over.

I think there is also a third part. I wonder if they put any effort into that. This felt like band work in which a popular fantasy series was remade for younger viewers.

I've spent as long as possible trying not to compare this franchise to that other fantasy cycle from that writer who was such a great friend of Narnia's spiritual father, but when I'm confronted with moving trees, flying animals that eject falling heroes plucking the sky, a river that takes on a life of its own to swallow up enemies, a battle in the courtyard of a castle, and a second battle on the lawn in front of another fortress – yes, I can't help it either. Anyway, apart from the comparison with **** I found The lion, the witch and the wardrobe a bit bland, but I like this second part a lot better , with a more serious approach and more (fatal) casualties than part 1, although the spectacular action and the nice intrigue are somewhat undermined by the too simplistic characters. Despite his silly exotic accent and that cowardly brown-grey outfit at the end, Ben Barnes is a fine crown prince, the children are doing well (although I still don't think the eldest brother is really a heroic type) and Loekie de Leeuw fortunately remains largely off -screen, so all in all, this was quite a fun and entertaining movie.

Slightly better.

In principle, this sequel constantly hangs in the level that the first part already had. Not so good, a film that looks great but never manages to use the budget in a positive way. It also doesn't look that expensive, while there are really a few cents paid for it. I also regret that the same director had to return.

The four children find a new way to return to the land of Narnia. Now that the introductions are done you hope they can move through the story a bit faster, but I was wrong about that. Again, more than 150 minutes are needed to pull through the story. Through some ugly pictured forests, some boring action scenes in the castle and encounters with imaginative but uninteresting characters, Narnia slowly but surely takes shape, which finally makes a positive turn in the final.

Strikingly great last fight, I could enjoy that. It's also nice that they have strengthened the cheap decoration, because now it actually seems like we're fighting fantasy creatures instead of big people in an even bigger costume. The effects are a bit nicer, detailing is also better, which makes the final phase quite entertaining. Since this also lasts a long time, I have not experienced any problems with dullness.

Other than that, I still like the kids. They also act better than their adult colleagues, who I especially found to be a boring impression. It remains striking how ugly certain scenes are portrayed. They may be in a fantasy land, but everything still feels too "real". All in all, for the most part, the same criticism that I gave the first part remains, but an extra half for the entertaining final battle can be added.
