"The mightiest excitement that ever swept across the sea or the screen!"
The Bounty leaves Portsmouth in 1787. Its destination is to sail to Tahiti. Captain Bligh is willing to do anything to get there as quickly as possible and therefore wants strict discipline. When they arrive in Tahiti, it is a true paradise for the crew. On his way back to England, Fletcher Christian becomes the leader of a group plotting to engage in mutiny.

Beautiful adventure film (with many beautiful images) with a well-playing Marlon Brando.
They run it regularly on TCM.

Compelling adventure film, although it is not very strong in terms of quality. The film even comes across as a bit outdated and is not always nice to watch. Moreover, the characters lack character to really captivate. But the tension is there, although that will mainly be due to the book. Brando is on the edge as always, although he does get better towards the end. A fun movie to see with the necessary adventure. And sometimes that shouldn't be anymore.

Still a nice little classic. Don't know if I've ever seen him. Doubt that a bit. The images on blu ray are so beautiful and that after more than 60 years! Thumbs up! Had to watch the movie with English subtitles. Difficult with all those shipping terms, but it is no different. Sound was also okay. The movie lasts over 3 hours. So a whole sitting and not much happens in the first hour and a half. The second part is a lot better with more tension. The beautiful island of Tahiti also has something. The beautiful woman Tarita Teriipaia is still among us and is now 81 years old. Third wife of Marlon Brando. The rest have already died. Marlon Brando I've always found the odd one out. Maybe a little bit of that time too. Actors with a kind of smoke hanging over them. But these kind of movies are always good for me. Two more notable things. The plant issue also comes back a bit in the Master and Commander with Russel Crowe from 2003. And I was not really aware that Australia used to be called New Holland. Discovered by the Dutch but not colonized. Later by the French and the English colony who changed Terra Australis to Australia. The unknown south country.
