The Electric State plot
"Rage with the machines."
In the year 1994, the world is in ruins due to a battle between humanity and artificial intelligence. The humans who died have been buried and the defeated robots have been banished to a forbidden zone in the southwestern desert. While the remaining humans try to rebuild society without the help of the mechanical beings, young Michelle searches for her long-lost brother. The teenager is accompanied on her quest by a sweet but mysterious robot and the eccentric Keats, a war veteran turned truck driver.

Good film about a young woman who goes in search of her brother who she lost during the war. The film is set in a robot world in the 90s and is both futuristic and nostalgic in that respect (and that works well here). Adventurous, and enough happens. Good special effects and the robots look seamless.

Hmm, I don't know about this movie. It's not good, not bad. You can see that it cost a lot of money but maybe it's because it's hard to connect with the robots that I liked the movie less. Fine for a movie night but not a high-quality movie.

I certainly don't want to call the film bad. The world is nicely conceived, the production design is very nice and especially the special effects are flawless - the robots look really good. Pratt also has a nice role and brings some necessary lightness. Only the film really lasts way too long and after about three quarters of an hour the film just sags a bit. The thing becomes a bit slow, there is little that is interesting and the very flat acting of Brown (the robots showed more sign of life) doesn't really help. Even though the action looks fine, the film did little more for me and then ends on a minor note in terms of viewing experience. 2.5*.
