Clearly a film from before the financial crisis. At least, I can hope that since then directors are more aware of their money. A $100 million budget for a movie like this is just a joke. Surely you can't put the first mediocre script into such a multimillion-dollar production. I like to watch airplane movies. Ancient or modern, existing or futuristic, I don't care. The effects are good (of course also possible for such an amount), except for some random spectacle there is little to enjoy. The characters are more annoying than they arouse any sympathy. The robot is a copy of the one from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Including the lip reading scene. Apart from some stupid twists and turns, the film is quite predictable. I barely followed the second half. Mediocre.

clumsy.

But in a pretty cute way. Without being too ashamed of it, above all. Except for some misplaced nonsense about AI, a straightforward film that mainly wants to entertain and doesn't try to be too serious. A good choice, given the script and subject.

Acting and plot are very mediocre, but a film like this also sets you up for the budget and the action. It's all filmed a bit muddled, but it does give the dogfights something fun. A little explosive to make it ... more explosive and much more these Hollywood films do not have to do.

You have to have a little sense of it and be able to turn off the right parts of your mind, but then it's all pretty funny. Not a great film, you don't have to expect that from a Cohen, but do your best for once.

2.5*

Good gracious, what a load of crap!

An incoherent film that easily mixes scoring themes into a tasteless mess. You don't have to expect much from the actors themselves, you don't have to discover much depth and chemistry.

That it sometimes looks nice (for that time) in a small bandage on the wound. But it can't prevent it from feeling like a long sit. *1.5
