Watched the movie, but that's about all.

The special effects were fine, but the whole world of aliens and monsters just didn't appeal to me.

The story also didn't get going and I found it deadly boring.

1.5*

“Don't know how many times I've been crossed off the list and left for dead. Guess when it first happens the day you were born, you're gonna lose count. So this, this ain't nothing new.”

Visually it all looks great and Vin Diesel is perfect again in the role of Riddick. It's a sci-fi/action movie (one of my favorite genres), so all these positives should make for a strong movie, right? Unfortunately, it's all very boring too, and you're basically watching a man survive on a planet all the time, dealing with bounty hunters chasing him. It's tedious and hard to get through. Katee Sackhoff should be in more movies, but even she can't do much with her poorly developed role.

Best of the series.

Thought it was a mediocre series, a third part with the same director again was not very hopeful unfortunately. In any case, I found the second part a lot more uncreative compared to part 1. This film then picks up remarkably well where part 1 had ended.

Visually, on a smaller budget, it looked good. 38 million was a rickety budget to still achieve such a decent result. But the 38 million can be felt sometimes. Some ugly CGI and simple effects, but those are just a few things.

Diesel gets more room to act here. It makes his role a little more interesting, and he gets plenty of space, especially in the first part. It is striking that director Twohy always seems to choose a different path. Every Riddick movie seems to stand on its own pretty well.

In the second part, the film follows slightly more familiar paths and we get a bit of the same "survive" path as previous parts already had a bit. Only the effect here is just a bit more interesting and better. Thanks in part to an advancement of effects and a catchier story.

At times it drags a bit. And the first part was just a bit too slow to get more pace in the second part. But for the series do are a very nice part. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best in the series, striking that it also has the lowest average.
