Had something of a B-movie, but with A-actors and made by hand. On the one hand, a black-and-white portrayal of well-known American heroism, on the other hand, the nagging feeling WtF America (and the West, including NL) are looking for there for God's sake... Contrast this with how the Mujahideen (now Taliban ) were depicted in First Blood 2, where Stallone as John Rambo teams up with those guys to fight the brutal Russian foe, and you understand that likes can fluctuate a lot.

Lone Survivor is a beautifully stylized action film. Raw, intense, dry and in your face.

The introduction with a few minutes of real images of the Navy Seal training tells more than ten thousand words and immediately sets the tone.

When we meet the team, we are treated to one sunset shot after another. Both during the scenes on base and at the start of the actual mission, everything seems to take place with the sun just above the horizon. A bit lavish, actually. The first time I saw such lavish use of light and backlight was in The Revenant. I did better there than here.

The film takes time to build and the absence of music during heart-pounding scenes is a masterstroke. It feels authentic, raw, stuffy, goosebumps. genius.

When the roller coaster starts rolling, it's much the same after that, each time you are amazed at how much a human body can tolerate when it comes to falls, rolls, gunshot wounds, more falls and the hard hitting of a few rocks.

The film is an ode to perseverance, camaraderie, trusting each other when the shit hits the fan. The fact that it's based on a true story makes it all the more haunting.

Why they chose this title is really a mystery to me, the film would have been so much better if the title hadn't given away the ending. Incomprehensible.

4 stars, especially for the shape. Intense shit. Story means little.

The "beautiful" thing about this film is that it contains a message from a 2000-year-old tradition in Afghanistan, that the one who needs help as a weaker one is helped against sometimes a much stronger opponent!

Are we talking here in the Netherlands about traditions that are being lost, I can't name one that is more than 500 years old and still honored! Respect for this society that is quickly described here as "medieval and cave mentality"!

The film, because for that you go in your 'cozy chair' or. sit 'couch' and watch. The film is well portrayed in the genre despite the many pounds / kilos of nationalism that American films often show and in which this one has quite succeeded. I always only watch war movies because the other half is not charmed by them and I found this one exciting and well acted. Would I become a Mark Wahlberg enthusiast? I found several films in which he played a role good and pleasant to watch. He also plays a good role here, but his colleagues are also doing well. Speaking of colleagues, there is virtually no or no woman in the film.

The material that was used, such as the "flying castle", was also excellent. Wonderful tool if you have a fight with someone or even an entire city!

Because I had such a good time, an 8!
