To say Ritchie isn't my favorite director would be an understatement. But I've never seen him do it as bright as in this film.

It's mainly his style, or should I say lack of style, that I don't like at all. It's chaotic, not very coherent, with accelerations, flashbacks, decelerations, but all without purpose or idea. Ritchie probably just likes this and throws this in so haphazardly, but that doesn't make it crackle anywhere. And I also find this really annoying with Ritchie because he doesn't keep size and above all simply because he doesn't have the talent to make something fun out of it. Just something tangible. The actors can also do very little. In any case, this story has something in it for at least 10 hours of material, but everything is thrown in just under two hours in a very messy told plot and without real depth, because there is no time for that. Hunnam is completely colorless and Law also seems to be wondering what exactly he is doing. Only Gillen still gives some sign of life. But that's pretty little for an entire movie. You constantly get the idea that Ritchie himself thinks he is creating something great, something very Important, a Great Movie. But despite the huge budget, this is just a snack, and also very poorly developed.

Also filmed very dark (too bad) but also uninspired, both the environments and Camelot. Londonium still looks nice with those dilapidated Roman buildings, but there is very little playing time there. And yet another film that makes me want to watch Jackson's trilogy to see how it can be done, such a fantasy epic. 0.5*.

Typically an example of a missed opportunity, too much borrowing has been played in, for example, The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Is it a bad film, no it isn't, but in my eyes the film has no face of its own. It's all superbly portrayed, but the film looks more like a kind of game to me, something that was already indicated by Pim 1993. If you're purely looking at the action, it's fine here, but even then I didn't feel like I was watching a movie about the Arthurian legend set in the early Middle Ages. I kind of missed the political scheming that was present in some of the other films made about Arthur. The emphasis was now very much on the magical, so for me the link with LOTR and the HP series was quickly established. In terms of acting it was all acceptable. Law does put down a pleasant villain and corner Hunnam, but that's my opinion.

I did enjoy myself, but there would have been more if it wasn't just for the visual aspect.

What a hopelessly bad film of pieced together hacking. Extremely unrealistic filmed too, don't know what it is, but it looks very 'little bit' as if everything was recorded in the studio and the actors have just walked away from a modern series.

Incredibly unbelievable story that is also poorly put together.

Sad happening.
