Extravagant cop Michael Dooley needs help to find a drug dealer who has attempted to kill him. A friend gives him Jerry Lee, a dog trained to smell drugs. With his help, Dooley sets out in search of his enemy. However, Jerry has his own personality, and does what he likes.

Nice video that I used to appreciate even more.
The story is not very special, but it is mainly the interaction between James Belushi and his four-legged friend Jerry Lee, which makes it all work for the most part. Together they get into some fun situations, which are quite funny. I am not going to deny here that it is all quite predictable and that the clichés are certainly not missing. Personally, I thought the ending, in which James Belushi puts the bad guy on the wrong track with his pocket computer, was quite nice.
I have a slight soft spot for this video. I understand that people don't like it and I won't recommend it to anyone so easily, but I do like this.

Mediocre film in which a police officer does not want to work with a partner, but with a dog. A typical 80s action comedy with a thin story and clichéd characters. Somewhat entertaining here and there, which is largely due to the dynamics between the dog and the actor (James Belushi). A comparison with Turner & Hooch (from the same year) is of course inevitable. I think this one is slightly less and therefore just not 3.0 stars.

Exactly what I expected from this, lots of one-liners, a typical 80s vibe and a nice feel-good atmosphere at a pleasant pace. Commissioner Rex clearly drew inspiration from this. 
Belushi and the dog also have a nice and convincing chemistry together.
The story is of course simple, but you can have fun with this.
