In a way I understand the appeal of this film (hence my three star rating), but what it was it was mediocre at many moments. Instantly outdated sfx, a misplaced soundtrack (although the music itself isn't bad of course), Lambert who can't act, a stupid elaboration of a potentially very nice story, poorly choreographed fight scenes and actually much more. There are some nice moments and the film has something that makes the time pass quickly. Curious what a strong(er) director would have done with this.

Mmm.

Kind of what I expected - in terms of level then. Not good, not really bad because of the guilty pleasure content. Anyway, I expected a different film in terms of tone and look. This is kind of Flash Gordon, but not that far-fetched.

The transitions are sometimes very strange - the film often looks awkward. So clumsy I wonder if maybe it was even meant to be.

Christopher Lambert is really a rag - Sean Connery as Spaniard (?!) is a lot more fun and I liked the bad guy too.

A must-see, anyway - I've missed it too long - but not necessarily for someone who wants to see something high-end.

2.5

For me Highlander is still one of the most beautiful cult gems from the 80s.

With of course the unforgettable music of Queen. This film came out 1 year after Bob Geldofs's Live Aid, Queen's absolute comeback. 'Who wants to live forever' still seems to be one of the most popular funeral songs.

Watched it again recently on youtube, and it was full again in a few moments.

Still a fantastic movie
