I went into this movie completely blank and am totally satisfied after seeing the ending. Wonderful movie. Brilliant dialogues, brilliant critiques of society, razor-sharp comments and funny approaches. The movie is full of it. Also spiced up with some action here and there and you almost have a masterpiece here. Almost. In the end I have to say that the film didn't touch me and that's about the only downside I can think of. However, a film that I give 5* also has to touch me in a certain way. This one didn't manage to do that, but let's not be too negative because this film is sublime in every way. Acting, cinematographic, audiovisual wonderful 90s, atmospheric and entertaining. There was also 1 thing that I found a bit unfortunate/not right, but I've already forgotten it, so it must not have been important. Definitely recommended!

This continues to be a fantastic film... I'd really like to see it in the top 250. Douglas in one of his best roles When I saw him in the cinema in 1993 I was pretty blown away. An overstimulated defense officer forcibly returns to his family. The script slowly reveals information about D-FENS and that makes for a worrying profile, namely the man who is about to kill ex-wife and daughter .

Of course he is an antihero throughout the film because he tackles the social ills around him in his own way. The scene at the Whammyburger restaurant and with the neo-Nazi are worth framing. The viewer easily identifies with what the man is doing and that is what makes this film so popular; He's doing what everyone else only dreams of... raising the middle finger with force at society. In that sense, the film is also satirical. The idiocy of the social system is more than once put at the center and people want to make us responsible for hopeless people like D-FENS.

Falling Down is not lacking in black humor and one-liners ("take some shooting lessons asshole") and the moralizing is wisely left out. I don't give that film 5* because of the unfortunately somewhat uninteresting plotline between Prendergast and his unstable annoying wife. I think things like this disturb the film. Furthermore, a masterpiece where all the pieces are well in place.

PS : if you want to be safe from a pursuer you don't sit on a dead end pier

Best role indeed from Douglas, and what happens is difficult to explain, but we all understand, the stops that just blow can happen to any of us, especially now in this world full of stress and problems.....
