Dawn of the Planet of the Apes plot

"One last chance for peace."

A growing group of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar are threatened by some human survivors of a devastating virus that broke out a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace truce, but it turns out to be short-lived. Both sides are on the brink of a war that will determine who will become the dominant species on Earth.

In 2011, the Apenheul flew over 5 proboscis monkeys from a zoo in Singapore, in order to attract even more visitors to the park. I have seen them. All 5 proboscis monkeys are now dead, the last one died in 2015. Couldn't stand it here in the Netherlands. What do you want, in a loft no bigger than an average shed, with a window through which people peep through all day long, make noise and rotten children who start tapping on the glass out of boredom. Because proboscis monkeys hardly move, they are very calm animals. According to the management of the Apenheul, it was a breeding program. Breeding program my nose! This was the last time I visited a zoo.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: the first hour of great(at) entertainment, after that the film collapses. The story gets a (at)tail, but for me it honestly doesn't need it.

Excellent sequel to the already excellent Rise of the Planet of the Apes. from 2011. Actually think it's a bit better and above all harder. Monkeys can also be quite mean to each other. Especially the fall from the balcony really hits you. It's also nice that you have two conflicts between two monkey populations and two groups of people. The 4K is also well taken care of here.

Movie 4.5

Sequel to Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes from 2011. In three years the tricks have improved quite a bit and this time the chief monkey Caesar looks convincing. In particular, the opening shot with the close-up of Caesar's eyes, after which the camera slowly zooms out until Caesar is fully in view, is a strong example of computer animation. The tricks are therefore the strongest point of this otherwise unremarkable action film. The story is quite predictable, the human actors fail to impress and the pace is too slow at many moments. The playing time of more than two hours is therefore far too long. It could have been about half an hour.

Visually overwhelming, but substantively it is too light. Still, the film was hugely well received by film critics and with a worldwide gross of $707 million it was also by far the most successful film in the franchise.
