It was recently on TV again, so this remains a nice film to watch, the scenario is well put together, the action is well dosed, the film contains a lot of good humor and the interaction between Hawn and Gibson is fine. They are well supported by the supporting roles, especially Duke and Caradine as villains convincing. But an absolute plus of the film is the music by Hans Zimmer, the title song has been high in my film songs top 50 for years. This movie is an absolute must.

Mediocre film in which a man who has been hiding under a different name for years is recognized by an ex-girlfriend. A fairly typical action-comedy with a meager story that is often repeated. Somewhat entertaining here and there and the rainforest set during the final looks beautiful. Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn make a great couple, but this could have been more.

Oh dear! Good childhood memory, the phenomenon that you went to the video store on Saturday to pick out a nice movie for the evening. And preferably a film that could be appreciated by the whole family. And what a fun and entertaining film Bird On A Wire was at the time, the bickering couple, the smooth action and humor. And how good could Goldie Hawn scream. Yes... could...and was...

The film gets off to a messy start with the introduction of the various parties. After that, Gibson stands out as shockingly exuberant and busy, especially in the garage phase. The story itself is not crazy with the witness protection program, the people who are still looking for him, and the recognition by someone from the past. The latter is of course strong. Anyway...

What is particularly striking is the so-called smooth mix of action and especially humor that no longer really catches on and seems outdated, except for a few moments that are still funny. Some things are just a bit 'too much' and were funny in the 90's but now lack their effect. The nice final battle in the zoo and the appearance of Joan Severance is still good. It is too little and Bird On A Wire therefore falls painfully down from its pedestal called youth sentiment.
