The biggest problem here is that the first film was just a well shot competition film, where we get a poorly written standard action film where people have copied a lot from Jean-Claude van Damme's Lionheart. Ultimately, the film is certainly enjoyable, but that first film ultimately had a lot more (cheezy) depth and especially better action scenes. Eric Roberts was quite melodramatic in the previous film, at least he still kicked quite a bit, too bad his action scenes here clearly show that he is a pretty mediocre martial artist in real life.

Fortunately, brothers Philip and Simon Rhee are still doing great (it's nice to see Dae Han again) and Ralf Moeller is a cool bad guy who at times looks a bit too much like Arnold Schwarzenegger. It also took me a while, but in the end I recognized Billy from Predator in Tommy's alcoholic uncle. In terms of casting, there wasn't much wrong in that regard (Patrick Kilpatrick as the villain is always good), but the film just lacks a bit of soul compared to the first film. This doesn't mean that the movie is worse than most of the 80's/90's martial arts movies, it just could have been a bit better in both story and acting.

It's a tad better than the first Best Of The Best. Eric Roberts certainly looks better with longer hair, but part two is more varied and exciting. The plot is just a bit more surprising. It's a nice (and unexpected) reunion with the Koreans and a nice meeting of the slightly less well-known actors from the better action films, such as Sonny Landhem (Predator) and of course Ralf Moeller (Gladiator, Universal Soldier and Pathfinder). With a good helping of action, Best of the Best 2 cannot disappoint. Just fun, simple entertainment with the good and the bad. It may not be your genre, but the flop 100 odds don't make any sense and it's only right that it's been voted out by now.

Less that part one but no less entertaining .... it remains a film that brings back nice memories.

The actors in this film were still pretty good at that time....although there is nothing left of that now, of course.

Of course, this film gets added value from me because it involves youth sentiment.
