The Challenger plot
Richard Feynman, an American scientist, is determined to uncover the truth behind the Challenger space shuttle disaster in 1986. When the spacecraft exploded 73 seconds after launch, a veritable shock wave swept across America. Immediately, a presidential commission of inquiry was set up to find out what went wrong.

An interesting TV movie because of the theme. You could see it as a fictional documentary that sheds light on the Challenger disaster and its background. The film looks like a real TV movie, so no exciting popcorn entertainment, but I must say that I learned a lot about that accident, much more than what I had picked up from the news as a 12-year-old boy at the time. The subplot about the main character's illness, even if it could be true, was not necessary for me. 3*

I watched this movie mainly because I recently visited the Houston Space Center (but no mention of the Challenger disaster). It triggered my curiosity and the film did not disappoint me. It's not easy to keep a movie like this interesting. It is of course not an exciting action film, but it is about the struggle of a Physics professor - as part of the research committee - to uncover the truth. The acting is fine, especially William Hurt puts in a great performance. Funny that when you watch certain parts of the film afterwards, the other actors also act strongly and give subtle hints that I missed the first time. You don't have to be a technician to follow the film. The film could have been a little longer in my opinion, more expensive with a little more attention to the mutual intrigues. But overall a decent movie. If you are interested in the subject, the film will not disappoint. Even if you like 'lawsuit films', I think you will like the film. For me above average and therefore 3.5 stars.
