Journey to the Center of the Earth plot

"A fabulous world below the world"

Edinburgh, 1880. Professor Oliver Lindenbrook teaches geology at the university. One day, one of his students gives him a lump of lava. Because the stone is too heavy, Lindenbrook decides to melt it. To his great surprise, there is a lead in the rock, on which signs have been applied. The inscriptions point to the center of the earth, which is said to be somewhere below Iceland. Lindenbrook immediately organizes an expedition to the far north. He soon realizes that other scientists want to credit the discovery.

If you can get over the abundant tempex and polystyrene set pieces (of which you can see the fake structure very well through the razor-sharp Blu-ray images) and endearingly simplistically put together monsters, you can fully enjoy the story and fully surrender to the story. this older SF adventure. If you are annoyed by these shortcomings, it is better not to watch.

As a child, in the late sixties, when we had color TV at home, I had already seen the film and how I shivered at that scary, red, reptilian monster with the forked tongue.

I am now almost 50 years later and the shock of that time has been replaced by a pitiful look when I saw all the silliness in this film. What has now replaced the shock of that time is a wonderful sense of nostalgia and celebration of recognition. That's why today, for the current viewing pleasure I had recently, I still give three (very subjective) stars.

I was a teenager when I first saw this movie and was quite impressed

and for me the film almost had something fairytale-like with giant mushrooms and such... And

very special at the end the suggestion of a completely different world with things thought extinct,

prehistoric animals. It really aroused my imagination at the time. Looking back much later, at

coincidence, unsuspecting that it was this film. Nice to suddenly see James Mason,

Of course, it was still completely unknown to me at the time. Older and wiser, the review did indeed happen

some detriment to the magic with which the film had remained in my memory, but I thought

it is still a pleasant, adventurous viewing experience and the film is certainly more charming

the reasonable remake with Brendan Fraser.

I definitely have a thing for these types of old adventure films, and I've been watching quite a lot of them lately. I was never bored with this one, it's cheesy with all those monsters, but oh well, these 50s/60s and 70s films are just too fun not to watch.
