Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cléopâtre plot

"The funniest film in ancient history!"

Egyptian Queen Cleopatra makes a bet with Roman Emperor Julius Caesar, who thinks she won't be able to build him a new palace in three months. The credit of the design goes to Numerobis. Should he fail in his mission, he will be fed to the crocodiles. He asks for help from his old friend Panorama from Gaul. Asterix and Obelix help the ancient druid in his journey to Egypt.

wow! I just raised my vote from 3.5* to 4* and now I'm noticing the low average score this movie gets here! Ridiculous.

The original French version is really genius. So dry. So many references to other movies, movie styles, and playing with all kinds of funny conventions. In my opinion the film remains suitable and fun for A. adults B. children and C. die hard film lovers. In other words, everyone

It had been a few years since I had seen the film, tonight for the first time. And even just a moment ago I saw a joke that had escaped me in the past (the star wars Caius C+ moment ).

I also really like the comic elements in the film, in many ways. Literally with the eyes in the pyramid, or when someone is thrown by Astérix or Obélix, the palm trees that rise through Numérobis or when that spy beats the great Roman by his hand one way or the other. Then it also feels a bit like you're still with the comic book.

Nice nice! Just a pity that there was a big scratch on the DVD, so I missed about 10 minutes in the middle of the film, including the super scene in which the Egyptians for the first time drink the potion magique and 'I feel good' is used. Aah well, so there must be a new DVD for me...

At the time, I devoured the comic books about Asterix and Obelix. Thanks to a tip from soom I made up for a long omission and saw for the first time a full-length film about the illustrious Gauls. I don't regret that at all. On the contrary. I have regularly doubled. The most hilarious scene? The two Japanese tourists, who are looking at souvenirs in ancient Egypt! . How do they make it up!
Tastes like more.

Childlike fun.

Because indeed, as an adult it is less comical than x number of years ago. But good, partly thanks to some dryness, the film is still easy to watch and that's not the case with every youth film. The stupid head of Gérard Depardieu is doing his job. And every now and then you come across humor to laugh.
