Mr. Mercedes plot
On a frigid early morning, hundreds of desperate unemployed queue up for a job fair. Without warning, a lone driver in a stolen Mercedes hurtles through the crowd; eight people are killed, fifteen are injured. The killer escapes. Months later, retired Detective Bill Hodges is still haunted by the unsolved crime. When he receives an insane letter from someone who calls himself the "Mercedes Killer" and threatens another diabolical attack, Hodges awakens from his depressed and blank retirement, determined to prevent another tragedy.

Season 1 has ten episodes and the first starts very violently. This is because of the topical theme . Welcome to the world of Stephen King. The tension that was there from the beginning does not go away, and increases every now and then. You get sucked into a cat and mouse game between Bill Hodges and Brady. Bill Hodges is well portrayed by Brendan Gleeson. Brady the badguy is masterfully portrayed by Harry Treadaway. One moment you really hate that Brady, but on the other you also feel a little sorry for him at some points. (Not too often of course).
The story is well put together. You go from tension to drama, humor and then tension again. You are really on a roller coaster. And that ride will last you until the end.

The beginning is disgustingly real, unexpected, and so oh so topical! You can expect such a story from King's sleeve, but every time it is so waiting to see how the film script will turn out. The story remains fascinating and I was immediately drawn in, especially by the brilliant acting of Irishman Brendan Gleeson, who plays the role of retired detective Bill Hodges, but who is still very much involved with a serial killer who now knows where Bill lives. But now and then it is also laughed at by the presence of a pointed and beckoning neighbor. If you're eagerly looking forward to the next episode, that's a good sign -
