Dune plot

Anno 10.191. The universe is ruled by Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV who feudally divides his territory among the noble families. Two houses - House Atreides and House Harkonnen - are in balance for absolute power. Key to that power is the control of the production of a rare mineral, the Specie. Duke Leto Atreides appears to be able to take a major step forward when the Padishah Emperor assigns him the inhospitable sand planet of Arrakis, but in reality he walks open-eyed into a death trap that the Emperor has set for him along with his diabolical opponent Baron Harkonnen.

Villeneuve's movie is coming out, and leading up to it I wanted to see the old implementations.

Unfortunately Lynch's film has been killed by the production company, this story just cannot be told in two hours and fifteen minutes, way too complex.

this series (on two DVD's and of reasonably good quality) is not too bad for me, partly in view of the scant reviews. Yes, the environment is sometimes cardboard and the dialogues are not always sharp, but it is quite well constructed, and the acting varies from acceptable to good.

SFX range from corny bad to pretty good (the worms!), and the surround sound of the DVD is fine too. If you can fish it out of the offer bin somewhere for a Euro or 5, do it!
