Know Where to Hide: Wie Niet Weg Is... plot

In 'Know Where to Hide: Wie niet weg is...' nine VIPs take on the ultimate challenge in a game that everyone has played in their youth, and the innocent 'Hide and Seek' is transformed into a strategic game of cat and mouse. In each episode someone is appointed as the 'hide and seeker'. This person must hide in one of the six iconic and striking locations in the Netherlands, while the other participants go on the hunt as 'seekers'.

Het voelt wat onwennig om zo'n overduidelijke televisieproductie te recenseren, maar kennelijk is daar tegenwoordig de ruimte voor. Waarom ook niet? Ik ben zelf fan van 'Het Jachtseizoen' om het briljant simpele format waarin je elke aflevering weer onverwachte plekken in Nederland ziet. Andere spelletjesshows als 'De Kluis' zijn het voor mij nooit helemaal. Te ingewikkeld. Teveel regels. Te gemaakt. 'Know Where to Hide: Wie Niet Weg Is...' (2025) is wel leuk door de verschillende locaties en het verstoppen blijkt intenser dan verwacht. Maar tegelijkertijd vind ik dat gedoe met die poorten en triangles een beetje flauw. Wel erg opzichtig een manier om het spel te beïnvloeden. Het helpt ook niet dat de goedbetaalde BN'ers doen alsof het 't allerbelangrijkste in de wereld is dat zij verstoppertje winnen.

It feels a bit awkward to review such an obvious television production, but apparently there is room for it these days. Why not? I am a fan of 'Het Jachtseizoen' myself because of the brilliantly simple format in which you see unexpected places in the Netherlands in every episode. Other game shows like 'De Kluis' are never quite right for me. Too complicated. Too many rules. Too contrived. 'Know Where to Hide: Wie Niet Weg Is...' (2025) is fun because of the different locations and the hiding turns out to be more intense than expected. But at the same time I find the whole thing with the gates and triangles a bit lame. A very obvious way to influence the game. It doesn't help that the well-paid celebrities act as if the most important thing in the world is that they win hide-and-seek.
