One of the best German miniseries of recent years. A beautiful story, good actors, breathtaking locations and really beautiful special effects. The film is not a minute too long and looks great. The necessary drama and soap is also in the story, the 5 friends that are followed each have their own story and each their own view of the war. I really liked the character of the good brother and of the German Jew who went on deportation.

Beautiful sets and excellent acting, but unfortunately the script is poorly written. The Germans apparently like to process their war past by seeing it from every war cliché imaginable. Those 'Oscar-winning' moments in which the actors have to shine for a moment with melodramatic dialogues about the futility of war are absolutely terrifying. In addition, the script is made up of crazy coincidences and half-finished ideas. Such a shame, because in terms of atmosphere and style, something above average is created here. This would probably have been a masterpiece if a little more layered choices had been made in the script.

Great German miniseries about the misadventures of five friends during the second world war. Can easily compete with the best made in this field; plot lines, acting, camera work and music - everything is taken care of down to the last detail. On an emotional level, things also get pretty intense. In short, impressive.
