Impressive story and captivating series. Great actors too. I always think Lynskey plays great, and Keitel is better at one moment than the other. Unfortunately he wasn't completely convincing for the entire six episodes. In addition, I didn't even recognize Keitel at first. He's gotten extremely old since Reservoir Dogs, I must say... Okay, that's not so strange of course, after thirty years, but still.

What I had more trouble with is the spoken language. If you're making a series about the horrors of Auschwitz-Birkenau, why not use real German actors, and real Slovaks? That makes the atmosphere so much different, and that German shouting makes it so much more threatening. There was no language barrier anywhere, which you would expect with a camp where Jews from every European country were deported. Now, the first few episodes sometimes gave me the feeling that I was watching a soap opera, even though it looked very well-groomed. The horrors of the Nazis are discussed, but that gray edge that Schindler's List had, and which made the hair stand on end, I missed here.

All in all a good series, impressive, and a nice story.
