Some interesting stories surrounding the Watergate scandal have remained fairly underexposed to this day. For example, there are stories of Richard Nixon's subordinates, and the whistleblowers who eventually brought down the house of cards. But what if these two groups of people coincide? Then we have Martha Mitchell, a well-known figure in Arkansas's high circles, and the wife of John N. Mitchell, Nixon's loyal Attorney General. Despite being a loyal member of the Republicans, Martha is the first to raise public alarms about Nixon's involvement in the Watergate scandal. This created a shaky position for both the president and her own marriage. Her husband now has to choose between Martha and Nixon.
