Meanwhile, German Werner Pfennig, who grew up in an orphanage in a German mining town, and his younger sister Jutta, ends up in the Hitler Youth. He is then sent to the front. Seen the first part, quite special, unfortunately spoken in English, both French and German speakers

Well... now seen 1 episode; fiction in a non-fiction setting. That's what it is. So not my thing.

Pulitzer Prize, but not for this series.

Very sweet scenes and then again violence that is not too

0 places.

Many flashbacks from the perspective of Werner and Marie-Laure. Uncle Etienne also looks back. I think a chronological format would have worked better.

Sometimes irritating acting. Not from everyone. Most actors who play Germans do minimal overacting.

Marie-Laure who, as a little girl, seems really blind but acts poorly. The older Marie-Laure is less credible as a blind person. She looks at someone when they talk. Maybe blind people do that, but it doesn't fit here.

Germans and French who speak English. Apparently they also understand each other very well (because they both speak English). I think that's understandable for a Netflix verhicle. However, the series does not do that well.

The theme of diamond theft by the Germans is not surprising. It's best to make a film or series about it. Could be a bit more compact and especially more exciting.
