Hip-Hop Evolution plot

In Hip-Hop Evolution, rapper Shad Kabango talks to influential colleagues, DJs and music bosses about the evolution of hip-hop between the 70s and 90s. Today, hip-hop is a global phenomenon that changed the world of music, dance, fashion and language forever. However, it all started in the Bronx where kids gathered to listen to and make music they'd never heard before.

Hip-Hop Evolution season 1

Awesome documentary series, with especially the first season a feast of recognition. The later seasons are also strong, but they sporadically feature artists that I don't always have anything to do with. Well done in any case, packed with fun interviews with a relentless string of big names. The anecdotes from the old box are delicious. Of course, sometimes you miss some people, like Dr. Dre, Nas and Eminem, but it's admirable how many artists show up here. Furthermore, of course, a lot of good music and great archive material.

Hip-Hop Evolution season 3

Because I've seen Tupac and Biggie happen many times, this season is slightly less than the previous seasons. But I can imagine if you're not familiar with this history, it might be just as good as season 2.

The freestyle and Atlanta episodes were fun, but I think Eminem could have gotten a little more attention, considering how big he's gotten. Perhaps the first rapper to become as big as a pop star? Now it seems to be mainly about his first album.

I really liked the part about OutKast. You don't hear the history of these kinds of groups as quickly if you compare it with, for example, Tupac or Biggie.

It won't be as good as season 1 because everything is mixed up now, but I still find it entertaining. Season 1 was a true evolution of Hip hop, but now the series has evolved towards a more patchy approach.

I'm looking forward to a fourth season and I hope they stay in the 90's, but I'm afraid they're going into the 00's. I would still like to see Mobb Deep, The Fugees, Cypress Hill, Redman and the solo careers of NWA and WU Tang members among others.

Then after that they get to stop the 00's in 1 episode with 50 cents, lil Wayne, Kanye and The Game and maybe mention the older guys who are still doing well in the 00's, like Dre, Snoop, Eminem, Jay z and Busta Rhymes .

I don't really need to see anything from the 10s, because mumblerap can't be called evolution anymore
