Greta Thunberg: A Year to Change the World plot

The young climate activist Greta Thunberg wants to bring about change. For many she is an icon of the fight against climate disruption, for others a louse in the fur and for some an overly theatrical teenager. But who is Greta Thunberg really? The documentary follows Greta during her 'sabbatical' year, from August 2019 to the end of 2020. She is then 16-17 years old and during that period interrupts her studies. She travels across North America and Europe, talking to experts about the complex and diverse impacts of climate change.

Touching to see how Greta Thunberg struggles with her own role in the climate story. She doesn't want to be listened to, she does want to hear the facts. However, if she does not use the gimmick of personal indignation (read: insults towards prominent world leaders), the media attention plummets. So? Thunberg has no clue. She thinks, seeks, and meanwhile continues to live more as a myth than as an individual. So? Hop on the boat, across the Atlantic! Not fun, certainly not eager for attention, but honest and – due to her condition almost neurotic and therefore involuntarily – committed. Whichever way you look at it: it remains a strong figure, here exposed in a somewhat dull documentary that nevertheless looks nice.

I found this documentary series to be boring, probably because it is long (3 parts) and mentions few new things in terms of the person Greta Thunberg (especially if you have seen the documentary I Am Greta) and in any case few surprising things in terms of climate science mentions.
