Great series, of which the first two seasons are about equally brilliant. I'm no expert in the history of comedy, but it must have been groundbreaking in the late 60's - early 70's, can't you?

Of course I already knew some skits, such as the hilarious absurdity contained in Upper Class Twit of the Year, and first discovered the three films, before I noticed this month that the entire TV series on Netflix could be viewed. Of course I took the plunge and have not regretted it for a second. This is basically required reading (although that's a dangerous term) if you're into comedy.

An anthology of the best skits is pretty much pointless, because just about everything is equally fantastic. There are different types of humor in it, which is one of the strengths of this series. In addition, Terry Gilliam's animations are also very nice; often they form a bridge between sketch A and sketch B, but at least as often they simply cause a fit of laughter.

Each member of this collective has its own appeal. For example, the way John Cleese portrays a fighting instructor in the skit where one learns how to defend against fresh fruit is unmatched.

When I watch today's comedy series, I don't really know anything that comes close to this grandeur. If anyone has any viewing tips, please do!
