Grace and Frankie plot
Grace and Frankie's lives are turned upside down when their wives leave them for each other. Suddenly everything is different. 'Grace and Frankie' (2015) is a delightful tragicomedy about two married couples who are faced with a life-changing turn of events. The men Sol Bergstein (Sam Waterston) and Robert Hanson (Martin Sheen) have been secretly having an affair for decades, but they never found the right moment to share their love. During a predictable dinner, the cat is out of the bag: they want to continue together. For the conservative Grace (Jane Fonda) and the old hippie Frankie (Lily Tomlin) a painful slap in the face. How do you move on at the age of seventy when your heteronormative marriage turns out to be a complete lie? It works particularly well how the various characters struggle with the new situation, even the two men who want to continue together. It does not result in a barrage of hilarious jokes, but 'Grace and Frankie' (2015) has a more subtle approach in which the two title heroines struggle with their own fears and insecurities.
