The series is set in Sydney, Australia's largest city. Ashley and Gordon are two lonely, complex people who are brought together by a car accident and an injured dog. The eight-part Colin from Accounts is a sympathetic Australian (rom)comedy, with sparkling actors and a good joke here and there. The fresh chemistry between lead actor and creator Patrick Brammall (Evil) and life partner Harriet Dyer (The Invisible Man) ensure, in combination with the smooth script, that Colin from Accounts occasionally leaves the beaten track. The clichés of the genre are not all avoided. But as a less polished version of Nobody Wants This, Colin from Accounts is successful.
