Academy City, Japan is at the forefront of science. The city is thirty years ahead of the world and more than half of the population is made up of students developing their psychic abilities. One of these students is Toma Kamijo. He is not psychic, but he does possess a mysterious power that no scientist can comprehend. Kamijo is able to nullify other gifts. In essence, he lives a normal life until he meets the strange Index. The girl, a nun from England, is in possession of forbidden magical books. A dangerous organization is after Index, but Kamijo will protect his new companion at all costs.
