In Edo period Japan, a strange new disease, the Redface Pox, has begun to ravage the men of the land. Within eighty years of the first outbreak, the male population fell to a quarter of the total female population. Women have taken on all traditional male roles, even that of the Shogun. The men, precious providers of life, are carefully protected and the fairest of men are sent to the inner chambers of the Shogun.
