My favorite series I think, although I need to rewatch it. On MovieMeter I wrote:

Good! The animation style in itself is certainly not brilliant, but in combination with the very fine, calm, fresh and airy music (varying between modern classical music and ambient) it really has a wonderfully cheerful, imaginative and moderately poetic (it never gets floaty) atmosphere to put down. Add to that very inventive and entertaining, often somewhat absurd short stories (almost every episode describes Kino's visits to one or more countries) that regularly raise philosophical questions and a great main character (Kino is very subdued, controlled, rational, observant and unemotional, which really appeals to me), and you have my favorite anime series by far.

Then I gave the series four stars, but unless my memory is deceiving me, I'm doing Kino no Tabi a bit short. They are very beautiful and intriguing stories, and the atmosphere is wonderfully serene. 4.5*
