Nice new discovery, where especially the locations and the beautiful shots stand out. Vikings is mainly reminiscent of Game of Thrones, but knows how to distinguish itself by focusing on one family and by taking a more realistic approach. The actors are all well cast. Gabriel Byrne is the only really big name, but Gustaf Skarsgård (Westworld), Travis Fimmel (Warcraft) and Katheryn Winnick (The Dark Tower) are also increasingly common. They all put down beautiful roles, only the character Floki I find quite irritating so far.
The big downside of this series is the great strides made over time. This creates a lot of uncertainty. The seventh and eighth seasons of Game of Thrones also suffered from this.
This is definitely a keeper!

Never heard of this. In the beginning I was a bit afraid that it would become rather superficial, but it was not that bad. An accessible, well-written series that also keeps it interesting from a cultural-historical point of view. The acting is generally not very special.

Note here is an opinion 
I've watched season 1 and 2 episodes of season 2. So far I really understand how viking gets such a high rating.
For me there is no story or suspense at all, should the tension be in the looting? What you already know will work? It's about looting yes they do, what's exciting about this, what's the story?
The pillaging they do with very small groups, they invade England there they fight against a king and this king sends an army of about 30 men? So a king of England has an army of 30 men? Well, most battles I know were a few thousand against a few thousand.
And not that I have anything against women and that they can't fight, but the army of the vikings consists of 1 third woman in this series, when I read about the army of the vikings it was almost impossible for women to participate in this . This was almost nil, sporadically.(I now have a feeling where is the gay and the dark man)
And then the language, they spoke English with a broken accent in Scandinavia at the time.?
All in all, this is just really bad, not even a 3 in my opinion. No story, no suspense, really a season of nothing.
