Chris Carter will not be involved with the new X-Files reboot from Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.
The X-Files is one of the most beloved and acclaimed television shows in history and became a critical darling due to its conspiracy theory plots, its 'Monster of the Week' episodes, and the overall writing, though it was the chemistry between lead stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny that truly fuelled the success of the show.
In March of 2023, it was announced that a reboot would be produced by Coogler.
Many fans were hoping that Carter would be involved in some capacity, but that isn't happening.
When asked by The Wrap if he is involved, he responded: "I won't. Only as a cheerleader. They don’t need my blessing. 20th Century Fox and Disney owns the show. They are free to do with it what they believe. I’m honoured that they came to me and asked me, not for my permission, but my blessing.
"I’m not supposed to be talking about it, according to Disney. But I’ll tell you, yes. I’ve had a conversation with him. Yes, he likes to go with a diverse cast. And he’s got some good ideas."
