The Great Train Robbery plot

"It electrified dad! It terrified mother! It will amuse you!"

Two robbers rob a ticket seller at a station. Then they climb aboard a departing train. They force all passengers to hand over their belongings and the driver to stop the train. Meanwhile, the ticket seller calls the police, after which a chase ensues.

The first western, right. And immediately a milestone in film history.

It's amazing how, with primitive means for our modern eyes, they still came to an enjoyable result.

Outdoor shots, occasionally movable camera, actions that move ("meanwhile back at the ranch..."),..

And indeed, it is good that there are reference books about those first steps in film history and I read that the audience in the cinema was not at ease and some even touched their clothes when the bandit aimed his weapon at them and fired.
