The Black Whip plot
California, ca. 1865. Some members of the former Quantrell gang, who sympathized with the Southerners, are wanted. Sheriff Persons has a gang member in jail, but he can escape with the help of a prostitute from his town. Not knowing which prostitute did this, Persons puts all four prostitutes (Jeannie, Sally Morrow, Ruthie Dawson and Delilah Ware) out of town for good. Along the way, their stagecoach breaks down and the four prostitutes have to ask for assistance from Lorn Crawford, who runs an intermediate station for the stagecoach line nearby. While Crawford is changing a wheel, a band of outlaws, armed with whips, suddenly appears. John Murdock, the leader of the outlaw gang and former member of the Quantrell gang, demands Crawford turn over the four ladies.
