I can imagine that this docudrama about the German invasion of Norway was viewed with the necessary interest and appreciated accordingly in its home country. However, I think it is a mediocre film, probably partly due to the fact that I only know the names of a few main characters, while the developments in the story are anything but spectacular.

What a bizarrely low appreciation for this grand piece of history. We can follow this example with our own "war films". Wilhelmina's departure to London could also make for an interesting film.

The dilemma of the king, the government, the crown prince and even the naive attitude of the German ambassador is very interesting. I had a great time, I wasn't bored for a second and with a great opening of the sinking of the Blücher and the wonderful sounds of Söderqvist (Låt den Rätte Komma In) it was a delight.

The beginning of the Second World War.

In our collective memory there is hardly anything between Germany's attack on Poland and the May Days of 1940. But before the Krauts came for coffee with us, they were already going crazy in Denmark and Norway, and about that So this film goes to the last part. Quite interesting. It's also nice to see that there are other royal families than ours and that of Great Britain, and that the arrogance that we find here does not seem to be the case in Norway. You would almost find it a charming office.

Nice to recognize where I have been in Oslo - even though it has been about thirty years ago. The palace where part of the story takes place is on a hill in a park, and at the time (probably still today) the tin soldiers would walk up there in groups of four when the guard changed. With rifle and bayonet moving forward. Yes, then Blurp also wants to step aside.

A nice addition is a film I saw a while ago: Kampen om Narvik (2022). It highlights another part of this period. Beautiful images too, just like this film.
